On the Security of the 128-Bit Block Cipher DEAL
نویسنده
چکیده
DEAL is a DES-based block cipher proposed by Knudsen. The block size of DEAL is 128 bits, twice as much as the DES block size. The main result of the current paper is a certificational attack on DEAL192, the DEAL variant with a 192-bit key. The attack allows a trade-off between the number of plaintext/ciphertext pairs and the time for the attacker’s computations. Nevertheless, the DEAL design principle seems to be a useful way of doubling the block size of a given block cipher.

Truncated Differential Analysis of Round-Reduced RoadRunneR Block Cipher
RoadRunneR is a small and fast bitslice lightweight block cipher for low cost 8-bit processors proposed by Adnan Baysal and Sähap Şahin in the LightSec 2015 conference. While most software efficient lightweight block ciphers lacking a security proof, RoadRunneR’s security is provable against differential and linear attacks. RoadRunneR is a Feistel structure block cipher with 64-bit block size. ...
متن کاملImpossible Differential Cryptanalysis of Reduced-Round Midori64 Block Cipher (Extended Version)
Impossible differential attack is a well-known mean to examine robustness of block ciphers. Using impossible differ- ential cryptanalysis, we analyze security of a family of lightweight block ciphers, named Midori, that are designed considering low energy consumption. Midori state size can be either 64 bits for Midori64 or 128 bits for Midori128; however, both vers...
متن کاملCryptanalysis of TWIS Block Cipher
TWIS is a 128-bit lightweight block cipher that is proposed by Ojha et al. In this work, we analyze the security of the cipher against differential, impossible differential and linear attacks. For the differential case, we mount a full-round attack on TWIS and recover 12 bits of the 32-bit final subkey with 2 complexity. For the other cases, we present distinguishers which can be extended to ke...
متن کاملRandomness Analysis of 128 bits Blowfish Block Cipher on ECB and CBC Modes
Randomness of output is a significant factor in measuring the security of any cryptographic algorithm. A non-random block cipher is vulnerable to any type of attack. This paper presents the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) statistical tests of the 128-bit BA to investigate its randomness. The structure of this algorithm resembles that of the 64-bit Blowfish algorithm, except...
متن کاملNovel Impossible Differential Cryptanalysis of Zorro Block Cipher
Impossible difference attack is a powerful tool for evaluating the security of block ciphers based on finding a differential characteristic with the probability of exactly zero. The linear layer diffusion rate of a cipher plays a fundamental role in the security of the algorithm against the impossible difference attack. In this paper, we show an efficient method, which is independent of the qua...
